Helping the Community. Changing Lives

Our community-based activities focus on improving mental & physical health, alleviating anxiety, isolation and confidence issues, increasing employment opportunities within the disability community, strengthening aspirations, and creating a sense of community bonding and cohesion. The majority of our community work focuses on the power of sport, exercise, education and mentoring to achieve these goals.

We run the following weekly sessions through the Foundation:

Parkinson's W/Football

We are in the process of setting up Parkinson's Walking Football programme on a Monday evening. Watch this space for more details

NR Half Term Camps

Run across 7 weeks of the year, our Half Term Football Camps allow players from 5-14 to train in age appropriate groups. Supported by professional footballer Nathan Redmond

Hawkesley Project

Two sessions run on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These sessions aim to reduce anti-social behaviour and violent crime by providing young people with a safe space to take part in a sport they enjoy.

Delivering After School Clubs, we also work within primary schools, working with young people with SEND, anxiety, confidence, engagement and behavioural issues

Ability Counts

Alvechurch FC Ability Counts & Mental He

Our Thursday evening sessions are aimed at anyone with an impairment of any age wishing to learn new skills, improve on their fitness and also compete in the  Birmingham Ability Counts League

Mentoring

Working with the players in our disability groups, we provide weekly 1-2-1 Multi-Sports mentoring sessions to provide additional support and guidance to our young and older players

Coach Education

This program looks to develop any individual with a disability or impairment and get them onto the coaching ladder and into employment, working in the local community

Our adult arm of the Ability Counts section. We use football and sport as a tool to focus on improving Mental Health, Fitness and Social Inclusion, with a chance of competing in the BACL

OUR MISSION

 

The objectives of Alvechurch Foundation are:

 

The promotion of community participation in healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of football and other sports capable of promoting physical health and fitness.

 

The provision of recreational and leisure activities in the interests of social welfare for people who have need by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances, or for the public at large, with a view to improving the conditions of life of such persons.
